SWEP INFORMATION: Sumsaren game reserve is also the African operational home base, offices and training centre for Sumsaren Wildlife Education Program (SWEP). SWEP is a program that brings wildlife & fisheries students from the U.S. to S.A. to get hands on African Wildlife internship experience towards there studies.  Sumsaren game reserve, safaris and luxury Lion lodge are situated in the legendary, historically rich Groot Marico only 220 km west of Gauteng  and O.R.Tambo International in the North West province of S.A. Sumsaren game reserve is a private game reserve set in stunning scenery with an upmarket, 3 Star graded as well as A.A Highly recommended Lion lodge build deep in and on top of the Marico mountains.

Groot Marico is situated at a point in S.A. where the highveld from Lichtenburg/Ventersdorp/ Koster becomes bushveld. From the north, Groot marico is again on the edge where the northern bushveld changes over to become Kalahari towards Mafikeng. To the west Botswana is a mere 50-km away. Therefore you will find more birds, more trees, more mammels and more grass species here. Groot Marico is the undiscovered joule of nature. That is why we encourage you to get out into the bush at dung beetle and grass roots level. Experience nature first hand and not only through a vehicle window.
